Study says : broader Smile longer Life
Hi pals, i have come up with a very useful & interesting topic, hope you all like this topic a lot.
A new study has revealed that "Broader Smile results in Longer Life". Ernest Abel of Wayne State University in Michigan & fellow researchers had studied 230 photographs of US major league baseball players who had start to play before 1950.
They grouped these photos according to their smiles. They had split the players into 3 categories,
1. no smile - if they were just looking deadpan at the camera.
2. partial smile - if only the muscles around the mouth were involved in their grin.
3. full smile - if the mouth and eyes were smiling and the cheeks were both raised.
Later they had collected all the statistics about the players such as their date of birth, body mass index, marital status & their career length, which will give the physical fitness. Researchers considered the players who had died as of June 1 last year & came to the conclusion that "no smile" category players lived for an average of 72.9 years, "Partial smile" players lived for an average of 75 years & "Full smile" players lived to a ripe old age of 79.9 years.
So, pals if you want to live a long life then keep smiling at a broader level.... :-D

A Spy in the SKY....
The US Pentagon's Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is now developing a radar system that sees around corners & down into urban canyons. With just using a few uncrewed aircrafts, the agency could track vehicles across an entire city. So, the key to this is that they will be using the buildings as mirrors which will help them to identified a targetted vehicle due to radar reflections. This system is call Multipath Exploitation Radar.
They are aiming to combine the received radar data with a 3D map so that they can calculate how the radar reflects off & between vehicles & buildings. They also anticipate that using these reflected radar would cover more ground than a normal radar which will be able to monitor a city of about 1000 square kms. The frequencies used would be between 12 & 18 GHz.
All about Solar sails
Japan have geared up to send their first working solar sail into deep space within a couple of months. A Society called The Planetary Society is moving farther with its own solar-sail project.
The executive director of The Planetary Society has told that, it will be ready by the end of 2010 but probably the launch vehicle will not be available until the first part of 2011.
LightSail-1 (image which is at right side) consists of 3 cubesats at the center of 4 lightweight triangular sails. The total weight will be less than 5 kilograms i.e, 11 pounds.
Now they have been looking for the right rocket because LightSail-1 has to be deployed at a height of atleast 800 kms i.e, 500 miles into the orbit else any propulsive effect from the sunlight would make it fail due to atmospheric drag.
Be Careful : Theres an Application for credit card theft....
A Security researcher Gunter Ollmann at Damballa which is a company based in Atlanta says that there is an application for the Credit Card theft. These tools are been supported with a wide range of services even some offer money back guarantee which makes it very easy to create the malware.
The Success lies in tricking the users into unwittingly install this malware. Hackers upload their malware into a site where they will not be recognised by antivirus software. So, the online security industry have started to give warning that these products are likely to result in more potent attacks.

Rockets can be fueled using Mars glacier lubricant
David Fisher at the Geological Survey of Canada in Ottawa, and colleagues have said that Rockets can be fueled using Mars glacier lubricant. Normally ice is too cold to flow, but when winds carry salty soil particles to ice cap, they might gradually sink to form a briny bed which is kept in the liquid state due to the warmness of the planet. when this liquid flows towards lower temperature they would freeze forming a ring of concentrated salt. This might be used as a component of Solid rocket fuel when mined.
Jack Holt at the University of Texas, Austin said that "the team has found the patterns in radar maps, however, the probe's radar has not found any signs of brine formation yet. We could be missing something, but as of now there is no evidence for anything wet at the base".

Silent Sound technology:: A new way to end Noisy communications
It is really a big issue when you are on a important phone call in a noisy places such as in movie theaters, while travelling in bus, in noisy restaurants. But a new technology was unveiled at CeBIT fair on tuesday which was based on "Silent Sounds". This technology transforms the lip movements into a system genrated voice at the other end i.e, the listener who will be on the other end.
KIT (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology) have come up with a device which uses electromyography which will monitor the muscular movements that occurs when we speak. After sensing the movements they convert them into electrical pulses which in turn is converted into the speech without uttering a sound.
This new technology will be very helpful whenever a person looses his voice while speaking or allow people to make silent calls without disturbing others, even we can tell our PIN number to a trusted friend or relative without eavesdropping . At the other end, the listener can hear a clear voice. The awesome feature added to this technology is that "it is an instant polyglot" i.e, movements can be immediately transformed into the language of the user's choice. This translation works for languages like English, French & German. But, for the languages like Chinese, different tones can hold many different meanings. This poses problem said Wand. He also said that in five or may be in ten years this will be used in everyday's technology.
Bluetooth version 4.0 a latest technology
Today, a group of individuals have announced that a new version of the Bluetooth technology is arrive. They have also announced that the new version i.e, Bluetooth 4.0, will be coming in the last quarter of this year. Latest devices such as headsets, mobile phones and computers and other kinds of technology will be having this latest technology.
Bluetooth 3.0 devices used to require at least a triple A-batteries or larger capacity battery to function. But in this latest technology i.e, Bluetooth 4.0, it will allow devices with smaller batteries to work efficiently.
Bluetooth 4.0 will be consuming lesser power when compared to their preceding versions, and will have a higher data transfer rate. It will carries the high-speed Wi-Fi feature which was introduced with Bluetooth 3.0. That allows the devices to jump onto Wi-Fi 802.11 networks, where data transfer rate is up to 25MPS.
Self-Charging Cell phone.....
Nokia of Finland, have come up with a new technology where the handset recharges itself by harvesting energy from the owner's motion. They have filed a US patent last week for this handset.
Nokia envisages a handset in which components, such as the battery & radio transmitter circuit, are supported by an sturdy frame. This frame can move along two sets of rails, one allows it travel side to side & other up and down. At the end of each rail strips of piezoelectric crystals have been put up to generate a current whenever the frames are compressed.
So whenever the user walks, or moves the handset, the movement or the motion generates electricity, hence this current charges up a capacitor which is finally stored into the cell phone battery.
