Researchers in Singapore have come up with a new energy harvesting device which has the capability to generate electricity from the heat produced from our body or any environment where there is a temperature gradient. This new energy harvesting device is named as thermoelectric power generator. This generator produces a power of around 1.3 micro-watts that can be utilized or consumed by implanted medical devices or wireless sensors which are very useful.

This generator consists of a single chip where the total area is just 1X1 cm2 which holds more than 30,000 thermocouples. This device can generate a voltage of around 16.7 volts. They are trying to improve the power output.

BenQ, which is one of the leading monitor manufacturer have now released their three latest monitors in India. These are considered as the world’s slimmest LED monitors right now. These monitors come under BenQ's V series. They are BenQ V2220, BenQ V2420 & BenQ V920 which has the backlighting technology & have energy saving mechanism in it which saves around 44% lesser energy when compared to other LED monitors which are in market.

BenQ V2220 is a 21.5” display, BenQ V2420 is a 24.0” display & BenQ V920 is a 18.5” display. These LED display monitors have been implemented with Senseye Human Vision Technology, which has 6 preset modes in it. They are Movie, Game, Photo, Eco, sRGB & Standard. They come up with a black glossy smooth finishing design & are very slimmer which is measured around 14mm-15mm.

Now these LED monitors are available on markets for purchase. While coming to pricing of these monitors, BenQ V920 costs INR 8,999, V2220 costs INR 14,999 & V2420 costs INR 18,900 respectively.

LG has come up with its latest mobile phone which belongs to the LG cookie series, it is been named as LG Cookie GIG KM570. Recently LG has announced this new cell phone which will be launched in the markets of Bulgaria.

While coming to the handsets configuration, it has a 3-inch WQVGA TFT display which has a screen resolution of 428X240, 5 MP camera, has an in-built phone memory of 4 GB, a microSD card slot, HSDPA of 7.2Mbps, Bluetooth, 3.5mm audio jack & has an FM radio in it.

The dimension of this new cell phone is 105.9X52.6X11.9 mm & its weight is just 90g. LG Cookie GIG KM570 has been designed with candy form factor. It's looks cool & slim, will be very handy. The pricing of this new handset which will be released in Bulgarian Market has not been announced yet. I think the price will not be much, it would be very affordable.

Sleek Audio is one of the leading producer of earphones or headphones. They come up with a new product which is called as SA7 Earphone.

This latest product has an advanced improvement in the sound quality as they are made up of military-grade solid aluminum. They have also used carbon fiber composite weave & more over it absorbs shock of around 14,000 Gs as it is protected by silicone. This silicone can absorb these shocks very effectively.

This new earphone looks cool & sexy & moreover, it can be used either wired or wireless. A chinese company named Tongfang have come up with their latest Mobile Internet Device (MID). In China this electronic gadget is known as Android Q5. 

Tongfang Q5 Android MID's dimension is 120mm x 80.7mm x 9.9mm, which weighs just 209g. This latest gadgets configurations are, it has a touchscreen display which is of  4.8-inch 800 x 480, memory space 4GB, processor speed is 866MHz RK2808, RAM memory of 128 MB. 

Other features include Android Operating System with 720p codec support, a music/video player, it has email support with a web browser, a 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi connectivity, a 3.55mm headset jack, a battery which has the storage capacity of 2200mAh which in turn gives a video playback of around 7 hours or internet surfing & in standby it gives backup up to 89 hours.  

In China Q5 costs 1999 Yuan when converted into US dollars it comes around $293. You can buy this stuff online via Amazon.com.

Researchers from Germany have come up with a new technology where our eyes will guide & control the cars. On friday, Raul Rojas who is an artificial intelligence researcher from Berlin's Free University said that this new technology tracks down the driver's eye movement & steers the car according to the direction where they are looking. At the intersections the car will stop & wait for the guidance given by the driven on which way to proceed. It will scan for the drivers eye for few second, upon the drivers desired direction the car will take turn & proceeds. This team presented the technology packed prototype at an airport in Berlin.
Right now this new technology has been designed to drive the car up to 31mph. Raul Rojas further said that the next step will be to upgrade the technology to drive it up to 60mph. He's next aim is to drive the technology packed car in a city where there will be obstacles & pedestrians are added to this test.
They have added 2 big external emergency buttons which has been placed at the rear of the car. This will allow the people outside to shut down all the systems.

Very often we can see that out electronic display screens such as Television, Monitors, iPod, mobile phone displays etc., gets dirty due to dust. We usually try to clean it using soft cloth or any cleaning materials, but this doesn't work properly as the dust again keeps going back on the screens.

Scientists at the National Institute for Health and Medical Research, INSERM which is located at Paris have come up with a new research which is about what will happen when a human is asked to perform a task at the same time. For this research they used a technology called FMRI (Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging) which will monitor the activities that is taking place in brain. This technology was applied on 16 female & 16 male volunteers who were all aged between 19years to 32years and all were right-handed. They all were given 2 tasks to be performed simultaneously, which would earn them monetary reward. They were also given instruction that whoever made errors, the monetary reward would reduce. Their tasks were to match upper case alphabets with smaller case alphabets & have to be performed by switching back & forth between both the tasks. Based on the number of matches which was without any error, rewards were calculated seperately for each task.

The researchers had found that, when the volunteers performed only one task at a time, both halves of the medial frontal cortex (front part of the brain which is above the eyes) worked on it. But when the volunteers performed both tasks simultaneously, the left side of their frontal cortex was doing one task and the right side of the cortex did the other task. Both were performing  their tasks independently & the results started to improve as the monetary reward started to increase. Both men & women volunteers gave same performance, there was no significant difference in the results between.

Based on the above research, Professor Koechlin, a neuroscientist said that considering the results what we conclude that the brain could only effectively handle two tasks simultaneously as it has only two hemispheres. Further we took 16 volunteers to check this out with one more task added, the third task which was suppose to match the letters of the same color. We found that this new group consistently forgot one of the three jobs which we had assigned to them & were making errors which was 3 times when compared to dual-tasking. So, this explains clearly that if we try to tackle three tasks simultaneously, the frontal cortex will always neglect one of tasks.

Researchers Yoon Jae Seong and coauthors from Seoul National University have developed Hydra which takes the advantage of parallelism from multiple flash memory chips. They used various design methods to implement this technique. In the upcoming issue of IEEE transactions on computers, the research study will be published.
They have come up with the Hydra architecture which will efficiently be using the concept of  parallelism inherent in multiple flash memory chips. Hydra will help a lot to improve some of the troublesome shortcomings of NAND flash chips, which were designed primarily for bulk storage applications.
Using the new architecture, Hydra can operate on multiple chips simultaneously, which helps to increase the speed & also four 40MB/s buses when combined together can achieve a collective bandwidth of 160 MB/s. It also eliminates idle time that occur during data transfer.

An new study has revealed the link between Cigarette smoking & their IQ. A study which was led by Professor Mark Weiser from Tel Aviv University's Department of Psychiatry and the Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer Hospital have determined that people who are smokers are likely to have IQ's lower than the people who are non-smokers.
Researchers targeted men who were in the age group of 18 to 21 years in the Israeli army which is the largest ever study done so far. After the study, they have come up with an conclusion that there is an important connection between the number of cigarettes smoked by the young men and their IQ.
They said that smokers have an average IQ of about 94 which lesser when compared to the non-smokers having an average IQ of about 101. Smokers who used to smoke more than a pack a day have even lesser IQ, which is about 90. So, friends what are you thinking?. If you are a smoker will you quit atleast from now onwards?.
