A new research was done by the scientists from Coventry University on the use of of caffeine in sport to improve performance. A very high dosage of caffeine which can be achieved by consuming tablets, concentrated liquid or from powder gives a slight improvement in their performance to the athletes. This slight difference makes a very huge difference when it comes to the Gold medal which can be achieved in Olympics. But the WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) has not added this caffeine to their list.

Jason Tallis, on of the research team member did a test on the effect of the caffeine on the endurance of soleus muscles (the lower leg muscle) & the power output of a mice when under the maximal as we well a during the sub-maximal activities. He found out that the caffeine dosage of around 70µM gave an 6% increase in the power output. Seeing this result, the researchers concluded that this similar effect can be seen in humans as well.

Amazon.com has now updated its kindle application which has the capability to embed audio & video clips into the electronic books (ebooks) which are served upon Apple's iPad, iPhone or iPod touch devices. On Monday, amazon had released their Kindle application for smartphones in US which is based on Android. This application lets the people to read Kindle e-books on a array of devices, switching as they wish.

At the release of this application, Dorothy Nicholls, the director of Amazon Kindle said that, they are very excited to add this new functionality to Kindle for Apples iPad, iPhone & iPod touch. They are very much looking forward to see what the authors & publishers will create for the Kindle customers using this newly add functionality & create Kindle apps.
Some e-books has already used this new feature & are available at the amazon.com. The titles include "Rick Steves' London 2010" & "We Cannot Fail" which is written by Terry Golway.

Amazon has also reduced the price of the Kindle e-reader from $259 to $189.

Yesterday at the Oxford University, Gordon Murray design showed their latest invention which is called the T.25 City car. This was mainly designed to make a low-carbon approach to the transportation which makes the validation on the Environment. It is considered to be an major breakthrough among the city cars in terms of efficiency, safety, design, weight, space, usability & footprint. T.25 City car will be making its debut in the markets of Europe and Asia at first. The cost of this eco-friendly car has not yet revealed.

Apple had introduced its smartphone popularly known as iPhone in 2007. This smartphone was very successful in the markets globally. In this 3 years Apple has sold more than 50 million iPhones. Now Apple has launched its latest smartphone which is called as iPhone 4. Super Talent which is one among the companies that manufactures storage devices has now released its latest gadget which is been called as TeraDrive CT Solid State Drive. TeraDrive CT SSD is now available in 3 different storage capacities 60GB, 120GB & 240GB. This gadget used a controller called SandForce SF-1222 controller to control the device. The chips used in this latest gadget is either MLC NAND flash metal recall chips or SLC NAND flash metal recall chips with SATA 3.0 Gbps interface. The writing speed of this SSD is around 285Mbps which is just amazing in performance wise & moreover this speed can be also be extended up to 275Mbps.

US telecom giant AT&T which provides cellular connectivity to the iPad users via 3G plan are now being exploited due to the hackers who have hacked email addresses more than 1,14,000 owners of Apple iPads. These email addresses include a number of US politicians, business magnets & also Army officials. All these were the subscribers to the 3G cellular connectivity which was provided by AT&T. Some of the customers were from companies such as JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, Morgan Stanley, NASA, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Justice, some of the staffers in the Pentagon & many more.

AT&T have acknowledged for whatever inconvenience caused due to the data breach & also have asked an apology to the customers who been affected. They have also said that only information hackers could hack was only the email addresses & they have also turned off whatever features helped the hackers to retrieve the mail id's. Further it said that they are into investigations regarding this. As of now, there has been no information or evidence that any customer's information was shared.

It has been over 2 months with the arrival of Apple's iPad which is considered to lie between those of notebooks & smartphones. Around 2 million iPads has been sold in this 2 months. With the increase in the popularity of the Apple's iPad, even the competitors are also been increasing.

Now, a dozen of tablet pc's which looks similar to that iPad has come to the market. They look very pretty & come in different flavours. They even offer some extra features when compared to iPad. I will tell about 2 such gadgets now, they are ASUS Eee Pad 101TC & MSI WindPad 100.

But truth behind the success of iPad is that, more than 1,00,000 downloadable applets when compared to 500 which was offered for iPhone. Google has over 30,000 applets available for its OS android. Lenovo's LePhone has around 250 applets & Asustek are planning to open an app store in 2010 for windows platform with the help of Intel & Microsoft.

A research team that was headed by Dr. Sarah-Jayne Blakemore from Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience at the University College London have come up with their updates of their research.

They studied the brain activities of around 200 volunteers who were aged between 7 & 27 with the help of MRI scans. Researchers asked the volunteers to look at the alphabet which was displayed on the monitor screen in parallel, they were asked to decide whether the letters which appeared were curve or not & along with this two, they had to ignore distracting letters which were not in curved shape.

The results were pretty shocking, they found that teenagers brain had a lot of activities in the prefrontal cortex (This is the region which does all the decision making & multi-tasking activities).This was expected to happen only in the young minds but not with the teens & beyond.
Dr. Sarah-Jayne Blakemore concluded that, there is simply too much going in the brains of teens which results in poor concentration. hence, there is wastage energy & resources in the brain which is makes difficult in decision making.
